All Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears fans should mark their calendars for Thursday, September 3. The first football game of the season will be broadcast live on ESPN3 at 6 p.m. (Eastern Daylight Time).
The LR Bears will take on the Golden Rams of West Chester University at their field in West Chester, PA. Both teams are ranked nationally by the NCAA Division II; Lenoir-Rhyne is ranked No. 10 and West Chester, No. 23. The teams went head-head in a national semifinal game two years ago in which the Bears defeated the Rams at home (42-14) – a victory that propelled the team to the championship game of 2013.
Lenoir-Rhyne University recently welcomed a record enrollment of 34 international students to campus, along with a new Director of International Education, Laura Dobson.
Dobson, who began her work at LR in early July, has worked in various aspects of international studies, most recently handling immigration and study abroad programs at the University of North Carolina Pembroke. Prior to that Dobson was at Florida State where she worked in the Center for Global Engagement, which focused on getting international and US students together for learning on campus. It’s a collaborative effort she hopes to bring to LR.
