High School juniors and parents invited to LRU High School Academy Information Session

Lenoir-Rhyne University will hold an information session at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, for high school juniors and their parents interested in the University’s High School Scholars Academy. The session will be held in Room 213 of the McCrorie Center on the LRU campus.

The High School Scholars Academy, which began in 2007, is designed for high school students who wish to pursue a more advanced academic program for their senior year of high school. Students selected for the program will have the opportunity to enroll in English IV Honors plus three college classes in the fall and AP English (or an approved online class based on availability) plus three college classes in the spring.

Lenoir-Rhyne University in conjunction with the Catawba Valley Astronomy Club is sponsoring a Public Observing Night on Friday, October 16 in the LR Observatory. This free event will begin at 7:30 p.m. and conclude at approximately 10:00 p.m.

The public is invited to come to the top of Minges Science Building where several telescopes will be set up in addition to the 12.5 inch Cassegrain telescope in the observatory dome. To access the rooftop observatory, enter the building then take the elevator to the 4th floor and take the stairs to the roof. Participants are encouraged to wear warm clothes or bring a blanket.

LRU celebrates Homecoming 2015

Homecoming at Lenoir-Rhyne University is a weekend celebration anticipated by alumni, family, friends as well as the Hickory community each and every year. This year’s event holds special meaning, as it is taking place during LRU’s quasquicentennial (125th year) celebration. Festivities will begin on Friday, October 16 and extend through Sunday, October 18 and include over 20 events for guests of all ages to enjoy.
