Dr. Mary Lesser, Dean of the College of Professional & Mathematical Studies, and Professor of Economics at Lenoir-Rhyne University was recently honored at the Greater Hickory Jaycees Distinguished Service Award ceremony. Dr. Lesser, who has been teaching at LRU since 2011, received the Outstanding Professor Award for her accomplishments in the classroom and leadership in the LRU community. She also oversees the portfolio management team, which invests $50,000 of the University's funds each year. The Hickory Jaycees support community projects and leadership training for young professionals. The organization's overall goal is to make the Hickory metro area a great place to live, work, and play.
