Lenoir-Rhyne University has named Ms. Robyn Marren as Chief Operations Director of LRU's Columbia Campus.
Marren, who previously served at LRU in the role of Director of Finance and Administration, assumed her new positon in early October. As the Chief Operations Director in Columbia, Marren will serve as the primary representative for communication with external constituencies, making her an integral part of growing the Columbia Center's presence in the region and beyond. She says she relocated from the suburbs of Chicago to begin work at Lenoir-Rhyne because of the opportunity and diversity within the Columbia area.
"There is significant growth and revitalization taking place in Columbia, and our campus located on North Main serves a vital part of the regions' development, making it an exciting time to be here," Marren said. "Through this new position, I am able to help our students, faculty, and staff find ways to connect their skills and interests to helping enhance the development of this growing region."
Recently, Marren helped cut the ribbon at LRU's Health Sciences Center, a 20,000-square foot classroom facility, an event which served as a prime example of University growth and community partnership. The facility currently houses the Occupational Therapy (OT) program, with space available for the needs of future degree programs. In addition to the OT program, LRU's Center for Graduate Studies of Columbia, founded in 2014, offers programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Human Services. The Center shares space with the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary (LTSS), which merged with LRU in 2012 and offers a variety of divinity programs.
"Robyn's work will be key in continuing the growth of new and upcoming programs on the Columbia campus," said Amy Wood, Assistant Provost and Dean of Graduate and Adult Education at LRU. "We have a unique opportunity to expand on our long history of seminary education and the rich tradition of LTSS, by diversifying our program offerings into fields such as occupational therapy, counseling, and human services. Robyn will help connect members of these programs with opportunities in the surrounding region, where they can work, live, and help enhance the overall quality of life in Columbia and beyond."
As Chief Operations Director Marren is responsible for all administrative functions on the campus with the exception of faculty supervision and academic curriculum. She will be required to oversee the daily operations and work of all staff members to ensure effective and efficient operations. Marren will also manage the business functions of the campus, including budget management, student accounts, capital improvements, and auxiliary services, in concert with Hickory campus operations.
