HICKORY, N.C. – Suzuki Kids in Koncert at Lenoir-Rhyne University will be sponsoring the second annual Carolina Suzuki PianoFest beginning, Saturday, July 26 through Thursday, July 31 on the campus of LRU.
Approved by the Suzuki Association of the Americas, Carolina Suzuki PianoFest is one of only a handful of all-piano institutes in North America and provides a fun filled week of intense instruction and opportunities for students, parents and teachers.
During the PianoFest, local students as well as students from surrounding areas, will participate in daily Master Classes where they will receive one-on-one instruction. Repertoire classes will meet in a piano lab setting so that piano students enjoy the experience of making music with others. Enrichment classes are also a part of the institute experience and participants will enjoy a “Boom Boom Crash Course for Percussion,” led by local instructor, Rick Cline. Students will also enjoy a daily “Mouth Music” class where local instructor Irene Craig of the Suzuki Kids in Koncert faculty, and long-time choral music director, will work with students on singing and musical activities.
National SAA Teacher Trainer, Jane Reed will be a clinician at the institute, instructing teacher training classes for participants who desire to further their education as Suzuki teachers. Reed will also lead a parent forum each day and will teach master classes. Director of Suzuki Kids in Koncert at LRU and piano instructor, Jane Perry will also teach master classes. Irene Craig will teach repertoire classes as well as “Mouth Music” enrichment classes.
