HICKORY, N.C. — After recent confirmation from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), President Wayne B. Powell and Dean Hank S. Weddington, have joined Lenoir-Rhyne University administration, faculty, staff and partnering public school districts in announcing the national continuing accreditation of educator preparation and school counseling programs.
The programs offered through the School of Education, received an excellent review following a comprehensive evaluation by NCATE, based on their Unit Standards, a set of research-based national standards developed by all sectors of the teaching profession. Accreditation required an off-site and on-sire review of the School of Education, and a review of the individual programs within it. The national Board of Evaluators judged all programs as fully meeting every national standard, and lauded the university for its strong partnerships with public schools in the region.
The Lenoir-Rhyne University College of Education & Human Services offers undergraduate programs in Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education, and Human & Community Service.
