The Lenoir-Rhyne University Institute for Faith and Learning will welcome Laura Stivers to campus on Thursday, Oct. 10. Dr. Stivers will be speaking in the Belk Centrum on campus at 7:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Stivers is a professor of ethics at the Dominican University of California. Her talk, entitled “From Charity to Community: Promoting Hospitality as Justice,” will draw from her 2011 book, Disrupting Homelessness: Alternative Christian Approaches, which calls for just and compassionate communities that make a home for all people.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Institute for Faith and Learning endeavors to provide programming that will contribute to and enrich “A culture of the intellect” that is theologically based. The Institute’s programs are directed at Christians of all traditions.
