HICKORY, N.C. — Lenoir-Rhyne University Institute for Faith and Learning will be offering a course during the fall semester called “Themes in Biblical Narrative.” The course, taught by Dr. Jonathan Schwiebert, Assistant Professor of Religion, will take a close look at several key stories in the Bible, including Abraham’s quest for a child, Joseph’s rise in Egypt, the life of David, and the story of Jesus in the gospels. These narratives will be explored both in their original historical contexts and for their impact on our own society.
The course is being offered from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Monday evenings, beginning August 26, at St. Andrews Church in Hickory. It is free and open to the public.
In addition to this community class, the LRU Institute for Faith and Learning will hold a Speakers Series throughout theyear. Each event is free and open to the public and is held at 7:00 p.m. in the Belk Centrum on the Lenoir-Rhyne campus, unless a different location is specified. The 2013-14 Series will include:

- March 13: Guy Nave
