HICKORY, N.C. — The Lenoir-Rhyne University Business Council will honor Anthony “Tony” and Margaret Huss Jackson as Business Leaders of the Year at an awards luncheon on Wednesday, April 24 at 11:30 a.m. at the Lake Hickory Country Club in Hickory. This ticketed event is open to the public.
Tony and Margaret Jackson are founders and current chairpeople of The Jackson Group, Inc., a Hickory, NC based group of four companies providing survey services, multimedia productions, and leadership development / consulting services. The Jackson Group was founded in 1976 as A. K. Jackson & Associates, a sole-practitioner firm, but over 37 years has grown to a firm with 45 employees serving over 280 clients in 38 states and Great Britain.
Both Tony and Margaret are 1969 graduates of Lenoir-Rhyne University; Tony with a degree in Economics and Margaret with a degree in Elementary Education. Tony continued his education with graduate work at Appalachian State University, Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, Hall Psychiatric Institute and received an M.B.A. from Wake Forest University’s Babcock School of Management.
As founders of The Jackson Group, Tony and Margaret have built a firm widely acclaimed as a leader in providing innovative solutions for employee and customer satisfaction surveys for healthcare and service-based organizations across the country. The firm has also become one of a select group of nationally-certified providers of government mandated patient satisfaction surveys, working alongside with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The Jackson Group purchased Video Ventures in 1993 to extend its multimedia production capacity, transforming it over the years into the creative services and social media firm, Jackson Group Interactive. Additionally, in 2010, TJG purchased Greensboro-based DATATEX, Inc., to extend its survey services into banking and other non-healthcare industries.
In recent years, Tony and Margaret have focused their attention on a unique offering for leadership development called DriveLeadership™, which is becoming known as an innovative approach to developing leadership capacities in ways that challenge traditional models.
The Jacksons invest in the Hickory community in many ways — having been strong supporters of Lenoir-Rhyne University over the years, serving on numerous Boards and initiatives, and developing their corporate offices by renovating the Harper Ford Motor building in downtown Hickory. Margaret currently serves on the Lenoir-Rhyne Board of Trustees, the Hickory Downtown Development Board, and the Foothills Division Board of the March of Dimes. She has served years on the LRU Business Council Board, serving two years as its Board Chair.
Tony and Margaret have three children — Alan, Brian and Mary-Margaret, all owners of TJG with Alan and Mary-Margaret serving as President/CEO and Executive Director of Jackson Group Interactive, respectively — and are the proud grandparents of five grandchildren. They currently reside in Newton, North Carolina.
Tickets to the awards luncheon are $50 per person for members of the Lenoir-Rhyne Business Council and $75 for non-members. Members’ tables with seating for eight are also available for $350.
