HICKORY- The Lenoir-Rhyne University Business Council and the Alex Lee Foundation will sponsor the Aspects of Leadership program on Wednesday, February 6th at 6:00 pm in the Fintel Classroom in the McCrorie Building on campus. This event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Wayne Powell, president of the university, will begin the 2013 Aspects of Leadership lecture series. He will give an address on leadership in general. Leadership is an elusive concept, difficult to define and impossible to measure. It is more noticeable in its absence than in its presence. When it is in place, things seem to go well and the organization thrives, but when it is absent, bad things happen. It is in this vein that the Aspects of Leadership series was started so that we may practice leadership more effectively.
Dr. Powell’s address will be the first in a series of addresses that will focus on leadership in different areas of life. On Feb 13, Mr. Kelly King, CEO of BB&T Corp will speak on leadership in the business world. On March 6, Mr. Tom Lundy, Catawba Co. Manager will give an address on leadership in the public arena. Dr. Betty McCain, former Chairman of the N.C. department of Cultural Resources, will speak on leadership in the arts on March 27.
