The LR A Cappella Choir, directed by Dr. Paul Weber, will join LRYC this year on several Christmas numbers. The concert will feature all of the LRYC choirs – Minnesingers (upper elementary), Meistersingers (middle and high-schoolers), and Chamber Singers (the select advanced ensemble). One of the pieces that will be performed by the Meistersingers is a new setting by Florida composer and educator, Dr. David Brunner, of Lewis Carroll’s famous poem “Jabberwocky.” This piece, complete with movement, was premiered at the “Sing a Mile High Festival” in Denver, Colorado, which the Meistersingers participated in over the summer. Also to be performed are pieces by Holst, Brahms, Raminsh, Christiansen, Chilcott, Copland, Haydn, and others. The Chamber Singers will also perform a Catalonian Christmas carol accompanied by LRYC members Ruby Kate Byrd, violin, and Ellen Byrd, cello.
