HICKORY, N.C. — It’s not the holidays without an icing-coated, candy-decorated gingerbread house.
The Lenoir-Rhyne University Alumni Association is continuing the tradition with the fifth annual Gingerbread Decorating event on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The event will take place in the Voigt R. Cromer Student Center Lobby on campus.
This annual event has grown to include over 100 people putting their creative touches on gingerbread creations. Each piece is fully assembled and participants will have frosting, sprinkles, gumdrops, and more to chose from to decorate their masterpieces. Once completed, creations can be boxed up and taken home to enjoy through the holiday season.
The event is open to children and adults of all ages and Joe and Josey Claus will be on hand to help. Hot chocolate, cider, and snacks will be available.
Reservations are required and need to be made no later than Wednesday, Nov. 14. Each house is $10 and can be decorated by an individual or a group.
