Vice President for Administration & Finance
Peter J. Kendall was born in Minneapolis, MN on March 30, 1960. He was raised in St. Peter, MN and attended St. Peter High School. He received his BA (Cum Laude) from Luther College, Decorah, IA in 1982. Peter attended the University of Minnesota from 1983-1986 and received a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Carlson School of Management and a Masters in Healthcare Administration (MHA) from the School of Public Health in 1986. Upon completion of his masters degrees, Peter served as a post-graduate administrative fellow with Legacy Health System, a not-for-profit, multi-hospital system in Portland, OR from 1986-1988.
Peter served as Assistant Executive Director of the Children's Hospital and Adjunct Instructor in the healthcare administration program at Ohio State University in Columbus, OH from 1988 to 1995. In 1995, he accepted a position as Senior Assistant Hospital Director of the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. In 1997 he was also appointed as Assistant Dean for Clinical Activities in the School of Allied Health Sciences at the Medical College of Georgia. In September of 2002, Peter accepted the position of Vice President for Administration and Finance at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC. In this role, he is responsible for all financial and general administrative functions of the college.
Peter lives in Conover, NC and has two sons Erik and Mark. Erik graduated from Elon University in 2011 with a degree in broadcast and new media and now works for FOX Sports in Atlanta, GA. Mark attends the University of North Carolina – Asheville and is studying business management. Peter is a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the Hickory Rotary Club and currently serves on the boards of the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Catawba County. He is a current member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) and a past member and diplomat of the American College of Health Care Executives (ACHE).
